The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the Forest Department  to initiate a survey of the Dabolim land of a company to verify if it is Forest or Non-forest land.

In what could be the first step towards scrapping of the tortuously formulated Regional Plan 2021, the town and country planning department on Monday issued order not to issue any approvals or licences from Monday onwards, officials said.

Over 50 Orlim villagers gathered and signed a memorandum protesting the second mega project, approved by the TCP Department.  

Goa is fourth on a list of 16 States where environment and forest clearance norms are being violated, fully or partially, by projects.

The government will consider objections and suggestions of all the gram sabhas while preparing the new Regional Plan 2021, and ensure that the document is prepared within a six-month period.

The Bombay High Court at Goa has disposed of a public interest litigation, challenging the policy for construction of hotels/beach resorts in the CRZ III zone.
